Intensive In-Home Services are time-limited interventions provided typically, but not solely, in the residence of a child under the age of 21 who is at risk of being moved into an out-of-home placement, due to documented medical needs of the child as the result of mental, behavioral, or emotional illness, which produces significant impairment in major life activities. Services are also provided to facilitate the transition to home from an out-of-home placement such as a psychiatric or residential facility, and/or learning center, when services more intensive than outpatient clinic care are required for the transition to be successful. Services include, but are not limited to:
- Crisis intervention and 24 hour emergency response
- Individual Counseling
- Family Counseling (Family services may also be provided without the child present when necessary)
- Communication skills counseling (to assist the child and parents in practicing appropriate problem-solving, anger management, and interpersonal interaction, etc.)
- Case Management and coordination with other required services
- Monthly updates to the referring agencies
