Carpe Diem’s Kids Gear is our new and innovative program to help foster children and underprivileged children receive some of the items that they may need for permenance. For years we have seen children come into our program with all of the items they own in trash bags. The initial focus of the Kid’s Gear program was on getting all of the children in our foster care program new luggage so they would have something to take with them when they acquired a permanent home or they aged out of the foster care system. Our collaboration with Hampton Roads Childcare has allowed us to receive tax deductible donations to help us provide as many sets of luggage to children in foster care. We are also going to provide luggage to some of our clients in our In-Home Services Program. These are children that are from very low income families. Carpe Diem’s Kids Gear has done a good job of getting luggage to many of the foster children that are in the Hampton Roads area. We would like to expand the program into helping provide children with other items to help with their independence and their move into adulthood. We need your help to continue to provide some of the things our children have needed over the years to help them achieve. All of the kids in our foster care program receive all of the daily items that they need. Here are few examples and some of the items we have given to children graduating from our program in which we went above and beyond:- laptop computers
- desktop computers
- money for a class ring
- linens and personal care items
- furniture
- small refrigerators
- dress clothes for a job interview, church, or formal gatherings
- security deposits
Our foster kids are generally from low income families, abusive situations, and they need our help to succeed. Please donate any new items that may help a teenager move into adulthood.
Thanks for your support.
