Welcome to the new website of Carpe Diem of Virginia, Children’s Services of Hampton Roads, and Hampton Roads Childcare. Our new site went live in September of 2008. Please create an account so you can make comments in our new Rants and Raves section. It is a great place for all of us to share our positive and negative experiences with some of the things in our community. We want quality businesses and products to succeed, and we want to help our friends and neighbors to steer clear of lesser businesses and products.
Thanks for visiting and please come back to see if there are any new upcoming events. Please call us if you are interested in becoming a foster parent, to make a referral, or to inquire about our in-home services program at 1-757-638-5500. |

Our Therapeutic Foster Care Therapeutic / Independent Living Groups |
|
Our therapeutic foster care program provides therapeutic and independent living groups for youth age 14 and older placed in our agency. - Girls to Young Ladies Group (G2YL’s) – focuses on socialization skills, improved etiquette and self esteem, behavioral improvement, making and maintaining positive long-term relationships, and a host of other vital skills.
- Children of the Arts Group (COTA) – focuses on artistic expression to include but not limited to art, music, poetry, creative dance, and creative writing. This is a forum for our children to express their talents that are often dormant and unknown to others. This is also an avenue to building self esteem and self image through creative means.
- Independent Living Groups – these groups are offered at least once monthly and have focused on topics such as saving and budgeting, check writing, hygiene, employment skills, as well as skills related to residing independently. We plan to continue to offer hands on trainings that will provide the youth with actual experience in practicing independent living skill. Future forums include medication compliance, anger management, and other vital topics.
- Art Group – this group is held monthly and facilitated by an Art teacher. Various art projects are utilized while teaching youth about team work, impulse control, and self esteem building.
